DALLAS – In their first competition since October 3rd, The Friars (6-3, 2-0) came out with no rust beating their district rivals Ursuline (3-6,1-5) 3-0 (25-19, 25-23, 25-21) last night at the Jane Neuhoff Athletic Center.
The Friars played well in every aspect of the game. The defense didn't let a ball hit the ground, the front row put up big blocks, and when it came to offense, our hitters hit the ball with not only strength but with accuracy. Freshman
Lauryn Lambert led the Friars on offense and defense in the game, leading the team in kills (12) and digs (13). Lambert has shown to be an excellent all-around player for this Friars. Sophomore
Lyric Berry was not far behind in kills (9) and led the team with four blocks.
The defense of senior captain's
Charlotte Hain (11 digs),
Katie Blomberg (8 digs), and
Jenny Canavan (6 digs) was fantastic all night as they were digging all of the Bears hits. Setting up our hitters were
Rachel Vlk and
Cate Hatfield. Vlk led the team with 18 assists, and Hatfield right behind her with 15.
