DALLAS: Senior night could not have gone any better as the Friars swept the regular-season series vs. their district rivals from Plano.
Bishop Lynch (8-5,4-2) dominated the game last night over John Paul II (10-10, 3-5), winning 3-0. The Friars won the first set in easy fashion 25-12. In the second set, which the Friars have struggled all year with, BL fell late in the set 19-17. But with senior leadership, the Friars fought back to win the set 25-23. In the third, the Friars took care of business and won 25-19.
As a team, the Friars hit an outstanding .315.
Katie Blomberg led the Friars with eight kills. Close behind Blomberg in kills were
Lauryn Lambert (7),
Emma Cuneo (5),
Leah Oyewole (4) and
Lyric Berry (4). One of the highlights of the night was when senior
Charlotte Hain got herself a kill, "I got a kill, I got a kill!" exclaimed Hain as she approached the bench after a JPII timeout. The setting duo of
Rachel Vlk and
Cate Hatfield had another great game getting 16 and 12 sets. Hain led the team in digs with 15.
This was an excellent win for the Friars, and it was even more special for the seniors. They have accomplished a great deal as a student-athletes at Bishop Lynch. Congratulations again to
Katie Blomberg,
Jenny Canavan,
Emma Cuneo,
Kyli Davis and
Charlotte Hain.
