The Friars had a very tough non-district schedule, playing six, including the top two, of the top ten ranked 6A programs. Playing against excellent competition week in and week out has sharpened the Friars' play as they are riding a four-game winning streak going into district play tonight vs. Ursuline.
The Friars have a well-balanced offensive attack with four players with 100+ kills:
Lauryn Lambert (210),
Lyric Berry (200),
Maddie Nolan (138) and
Paloma Gonzalez (116).
Cate Hatfield and
Rachel Vlk have set up our hitters, who have 374 and 276 assists, respectively.
Defensively the Friars are also hitting their stride.
Maddie Smotherman (261),
Lauryn Lambert (198),
Cate Hatfield (120),
Rachel Vlk (105) and
Delaney Moon (100) have tallied 100 or more digs in non-district play. At the net, the Friars are a force.
Lyric Berry leads the way for BL with 83 blocks, but
Ashlyn Zilliken,
Leah Oyewole,
Paloma Gonzalez,
Maddie Nolan and
Lauryn Lambert all have 20 or more blocks on the year.
Bishop Lynch has also limited its mistakes the longer the year has gone on. The Friars have improved their service errors, hitting percentage and digs from their first 10 games to their last 10 games.
Coach
Shea Jenkins and the entire Bishop Lynch volleyball team are ready to make a splash in district play.
