ARGYLE - Former district foe Liberty Christian Warriors took down the Bishop Lynch Friars 43-14 last Friday night. The Warriors move to 4-1 on the season and 2-0 against TAPPS I - District 1 opponents as they defeated Prestonwood Christian 28-7 to open up the season. Bishop Lynch falls to 0-4 on the year as they head to district play this week.
The Friars found some success on offense in the first quarter, getting multiple first downs and moving the ball well, but just not being able to finish drives. On the other hand, the Warriors came out perfect on offense and after the first quarter, they were up 14-0.
There has been no quit in BL all season and it showed when the Warriors were looking to put it away in the first half. That's when freshman
Legend Howell found junior
Aaron Reeves for a 76-yard touchdown pass.
Henry Nyhart would make the extra point and bring the score to 23-7. This was Howell's first passing touchdown of the season. He finished going 12-20 with 124 yards.
Unfortunately, the Friars left points on the field in the first half by making too many little mistakes and Liberty Christian did not and took advantage of the Friars' mistakes. After an interception for a touchdown and one more score, Liberty Christian held a 37-7 halftime lead.
Again, the Friars were not going to quit and came out and played a great second half. Defensively, the Friars held the Warriors to only six points.
Colton Monroe continues to play hard at the linebacker position and show his leadership on the field. He finished with nine tackles and a sack.
Offensively, with the combination of the Friars' offensive line opening up holes and
Godswill Giadolor's tough running, they were able to move the ball well. Giadolor finished the game with 15 carries and broke the century mark on the ground for the first time this year with 100 yards on the ground.
In the fourth quarter, BL found the endzone once again, this time from the arm of
Jackson Gathings who connected with
Jordan Lewis for a 32-yard touchdown. Nyhart remained perfect on the season by hitting the extra point once again.
Bishop Lynch now has all their focus on district play. They open up against long-time rival Nolan Catholic this Thursday at 7:00 PM in Roffino Stadium.
