DALLAS — Bishop Lynch standouts Akani Cruz Berrios and Alex Finley were named to the 2026 TXPS Media Preseason All-Private School Teams, the organization announced Wednesday.
Both Friars earned Third Team All-Private School honors after standout 2025 campaigns. Cruz Berrios was recognized at running back, while Finley received the nod at linebacker.
Cruz Berrios made an immediate impact in his first season in the Black & White, leading Bishop Lynch with 906 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns. He eclipsed the 100-yard mark three times during the season, highlighted by a 195-yard performance in the Friars' victory over First Baptist.
Finley anchored the Friars' defense in 2025, recording 106 total tackles, including 34 solo stops and four pass deflections. The junior posted four games with at least 10 tackles, highlighted by a season-high 17 tackles in Bishop Lynch's playoff victory over Central Catholic.
Bishop Lynch opens the 2026 season on Friday, Aug. 21, when the Friars travel to Fort Worth Christian. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. at Barrow Field.
