DALLAS, TX -- The Bishop Lynch men's basketball team had their home opener this past Tuesday night against 5A power Argyle High School. Despite hanging tough for three-plus quarters, the Eagles pulled away late in the fourth quarter to defeat the Friars 67-55 for BL's first loss of the season.

The Friars didn't have their a-game in the non-district matchup, but the fact that they started the fourth quarter only down three shows that this team is tough to beat. Nathan Day played his best game of the year in front of Friar Nation as the junior scored 14 points, making four threes along the way. Davien Taylor was the only other Friar to score double digits as he had 10 on the night to go along with two rebounds and two assists.

Ten total Friars scored in Tuesday night's game, which shows how versatile this team can be. The bench scored 15 total points, led by Grady Norton who went 2-4 from deep to score six points in his 11 minutes played. Other bench scorers included Jeremiah Williams (3), RJ Yttredahl (2), Bobby Slaughter (2), and Paxton Scalf (2). Yttredahl also led the team in rebounds as the junior forward grabbed six on the night.

Devin Miller and Baker Trent didn't have their best shooting night as they combined to go 6-19 but the backcourt combined to grab five rebounds and have four assists with only two turnovers. Miller also added three steals, which brings his average to 5.5 SPG this season.

Sub-Varsity:
Freshman: The freshman lost a competitive game to Argyle, 66-50.
Junior Varsity: The JV started the season off strong with a commanding 52-34 victory over Argyle.

NEXT UP:
Varsity has another home game as they will host Brighter Horizons tomorrow, November 17 in the Competition Gym. Tip-off will be at 6:30 p.m.
