DALLAS, TX -- Despite trailing by nine points heading into the fourth quarter, the Friars pulled within one point of Skyline in the final minute before finally dropping the non-conference road game 47-44.
The Friars offense remained steady throughout the game, scoring 10, 11 or 12 points in each quarter. The reason they were able to play themselves back into the game was their defense stepping up in the fourth quarter, despite only playing six players the entire night. Defensively, the Friars forced seven fourth-quarter turnovers that turned into easy buckets.
Fre Vowels and
Mikah Ford combined to score eight of the 12 points in the fourth to get the Friars back into the game.
A big reason the game was only nine points heading into the fourth quarter was the play from
Alice Thackston. She scored all seven of her points in the first half.
Adriana Medina not only got her third start of the season but played well in the 34 minutes she played. She finished with five points on 2-3 shooting and two assists with a block.
