Bishop Lynch celebrates nine Friars headed to the next level

Congratulations to these nine Bishop Lynch student-athletes on signing to play and continue their academic career at the next level. Bishop Lynch had a ceremony this morning to celebrate Lily Bracken, Cate Hatfield, Phoebe Johnson, Jeffrey Jordan, Delaney Moon, Lauren O'Grady, Amie Perna, Paisley Rodriguez, and Hanna Whitney.


Lily Bracken - Women's Soccer, Trinity College 
Bracken has played goalie for Bishop Lynch for the past four years. In her junior season, she was named Second Team All-District and Honorable Mention All-State for her play in the net. Last season. Bracken recorded eight saves in district play alone and contributed to 10 clean sheets this season. Her freshman year at Bishop Lynch, Bracken was also named Honorable Mention All-District.

Cate Hatfield - Volleyball, College of William and Mary
Hatfield wrapped up her amazing four-year career at Bishop Lynch where she went down as one of the best setters to ever play for the Friars. She finished her spectacular career playing in 135 matches with 2,150 assists, 784 digs, 262 kills, 146 aces, and 37 blocks. According to our non-complete records, she is the first volleyball player to have these stats in a career. In her career, she has been named TAPPS Honorable Mention All-State (2022), TAPPS Second Team All-District (2021, 2022) and TAPPS Academic All-State (2022) with this seasons honors still to be published.

Phoebe Johnson - Swimming, Tulane University
Johnson is competing in her second year with the Bishop Lynch swim team. Last season, she helped the Friars finish in second place at the TAPPS State Meet. She finished second in both the 100 butterfly and 500 free at the 2023 state meet while also swimming on the champion 400 free relay team and the second place 200 medley relay team.

Jeffrey Jordan - Men's Lacrosse, Hampton University
Jordan is a four-year member of the varsity men's lacrosse program. He is the first Bishop Lynch men's lacrosse player to sign to a NCAA Division 1 program. Last season, he scored eight goals and had two assists in just six games. His junior year, he scored 12 goals and recorded eight assists in 15 matches. Jordan was named BL's Offensive MVP his freshman year. 

Delaney Moon - Volleyball, Fairfield University
Moon was a one of a kind athlete for the Bishop Lynch volleyball program that never saw a ball she couldn't get to. She spent time on varsity all four years in her career and finished with 816 digs, 115 aces and 78 assists.

Lauren O'Grady, Rowing – University of Notre Dame
O'Grady has rowed at Dallas United Crew for the past four years. She is a three-time Head of the Charles attendee and a two-time Nationals attendee. In the fall of 2021 and 2022, she helped the Varsity 8 get first place in OKC Night Sprints. In the fall of 2023, O'Grady helped the Varsity 8 to a first place finish at Head of the Oklahoma.

Amie Perna, Swimming – Auburn University
Perna is one of the most decorated swimmers in Bishop Lynch history, having swam on varsity since her freshman year. In her 12 career races at the state finals, Perna has 10 golds and two silvers, while also winning Bruce Rollins Swimmer of the Meet at the 2023 state meet. She currently holds four school records - 100 back, 200 medley relay, 200 free relay, 400 free relay - and two TAPPS - 100 yard backstroke (54.74) and the 200 free relay (1:37.84).

Paisley Rodriguez, Rowing – University of Texas 
Rodriguez has rowed for Dallas United Crew for the last four seasons. In spring 2023, Rodriguez helped the team place 8th at the National Youth Championships. She was also stroke of the pair that placed 1st at the Youth Summer Nationals Championship.

Hanna Whitney, Swimming – St. Louis University
Whitney is one of the most decorated swimmers in Bishop Lynch history, having swam on varsity since her freshman year. In her 12 career races at the state finals, Whitney has eight golds, three silvers and one bronze. She currently holds two school records, the 100 yard breastroke (1:05.95) and the 200 yard medley relay (1:44.42).
