CARROLLTON, TX --
Owen Sibley and
Billy Gordon led the men's team to their second consecutive state tournament bid as Bishop Lynch finished fourth at the district/regional tournament. The tournament was played over a two-day span at Indian Creek Golf Club. The entire team of Sibley, Gordon,
Daniel Martinez and
Steel Wylie played through the difficult conditions to finish fourth overall.
Sibley (8th) and Gordon (9th) both finished in the top 10 individually. Sibley shot a 77 on day one and a 74 on day two for a total of 151. Gordon was a 180 from Sibley as he shot an outstanding 73 on day one and an 82 on day two.
Day two was the more difficult day as the players had to deal with cooler temperatures, wind and rain, which makes
Steel Wylie's second round that much more impressive. The senior shot his best varsity round ever as he finished with a 76.
Daniel Martinez also shot better on the second day than the first, as he finished with an 88.
Congratulations to the entire golf program and we look forward to the state tournament.Â
