MESQUITE — The Bishop Lynch golf teams opened their fall seasons with strong performances Tuesday morning at the Mesquite Invitational at Mesquite Golf Club, with the men's team claiming the tournament championship and the women's team finishing as runners-up.
The men's team was led by Eli Cone and Ellis DeLuca, who both carded 80s (+9) to tie for second place individually. Cone and DeLuca each recorded one birdie during the round, with Cone making a birdie on the par-4 ninth hole and DeLuca circling the par-4 first hole.
Ana Julia Kessler led the women's team with a 94 (+23), tying for sixth place individually. The sophomore recorded eight pars throughout her round to help pace the Friars' runner-up finish.
With both teams opening the fall season on the podium, Bishop Lynch will look to carry its momentum into the next tournament.
