Bishop Lynch at Dallas Christian: Game Preview

Bishop Lynch High School (TAPPS 1-District 1) travels just down the road to take on Dallas Christian School (TAPPS 3-District 2) tonight at 7:30 p.m. at Wheeler Field. The Friars (1-2, 0-0) are coming off their first victory of the season with a 76-0 win over Newman Academy. Dallas Christian (2-1, 0-0) defeated Tolar last week 37-6 to move to 2-1 on the year.

2023 Common Opponents:
Dallas Christian defeated Bishop Dunne 48-0 in week one while the Friars had a similar outcome in their scrimmage against the Falcons. The Chargers will play against Nolan Catholic on 9/22 while BL plays them in their season finale on 10/27.

History:
Bishop Lynch and Dallas Christian started their battles back in 1965. The Friars currently lead the series 6-5 though the Chargers have won the last three contests, including last year's 34-14 victory. You can check out the total history between these two programs here.

Players to Watch:
Dallas Christian:
#12 William Nettles: The senior playmaker is verbally committed to Purdue. He is averaging 132 receiving yards per game this season and leads the team with four total touchdowns.

#11 Luke Carney: The junior dual-threat quarterback is starting in the 30th game of his career and third against the Friars. He is averaging nearly 300 yards passing and 100 yards rushing per game this year.

Bishop Lynch:
#12 Legend Howell: The sophomore quarterback is averaging over 200 yards passing while leading the Friars offense to nearly 44 points per game. Tonight's game has the makings of a shootout so Howell will need to continue to shine.

#56 Jordan Hooks: One of the strongest and biggest players on the team, Hooks will need to be the anchor on the defensive line tonight. Dallas Christian is known for their passing game, but Hooks will need to solidify the line of scrimmage to minimize their rushing attack.

Keys to the Game:
Dallas Christian: The Chargers will continue to utilize its playmakers. Carney found William Nettles and Corey Taylor 18 times through the air last week for over 300 yards and three touchdowns. Look for DC to air out the ball as much as they can tonight.

Bishop Lynch: Dallas Christian has an explosive offense and the Friars, secondary will need to not only defend the pass but help out with QB scrambles. Last week BL had five interceptions against Newman International and they will need to once again create turnovers this week.
