Cross country teams each get bronze at district meet

HALTOM CITY, TX -- The Bishop Lynch cross country team returned from Haltom with a bus full of hardware after both the men's and women's teams secured third-place finishes at the TAPPS 6A-District Meet. 

The women's team delivered another strong performance, with three runners placing in the top 20 of the 3.2k race. Senior Maya Roppolo led the way for the Friars, finishing ninth with a time of 12:55.35. Junior Cece Degeyter also earned a medal, crossing the line in 13:34.77 to place 14th. Annalee Ashford (19th), Sofia Bartkoski (22nd), and Paulette Maney (25th) completed the scoring for the team.


On the men's side, Dash Raya battled head-to-head with Daniel Ogomo from Legacy Christian in the 5k race. With the two runners far ahead of the field, it turned into a thrilling duel for the gold. Raya pushed hard until the final stretch but finished just seven seconds behind Ogomo, earning a well-fought second place. Pierce Oxford also claimed a medal, finishing 11th. Rounding out the third-place squad were Grant Benavides (16th), Chase Agar (18th), and Michael Speirs (20th).
