New Faces shine as women's swim team edges Ursuline in season opener

| By:
DALLAS, TX -- The Bishop Lynch swim team opened its 2024-2025 season with a thrilling meet against rivals Jesuit and Ursuline where the women's team triumphed over Ursuline 86-84, while the men's team fell to Jesuit 114-11. The lopsided appearance of the men's score was largely due to the team having only four swimmers compared to Jesuit's more than 40.

As the defending state champions, the women's swim team has many new swimmers looking to continue the program's recent history of success. The men continue to build their program with young talent.

Highlights:
  • Grier Beeson has big goggles to fill following her older sisters Hadley and Abby, but the freshman went out and won two races, the 200 Free and the 100 Back. In a stunning debut, Beeson broke the pool record in the 200 Free with a time of 1:58.45.
  • Ella Whitney showed no signs of a sophomore slump, winning the 200 IM and 100 Fly.
  • The women's 400 Free Relay team of Caroline Hays, Ella Whitney, Carolina Girard, and Grier Beeson finished first with a time of 3:54.04.
