Bishop Lynch Baseball Wins Three Straight at Matt Clark Classic

FRISCO, Texas — The Bishop Lynch baseball team completed its first of four tournaments this past weekend at the Matt Clark Classic. The Friars opened the tournament Thursday with a loss to Mansfield but followed with three straight wins to close out the event.

Sebastian Vasquez had a standout tournament both at the plate and on the mound. He led the Friars in hits (four) and RBIs (six) while pitching a five-inning, two-hit shutout. Tedy Orlando also excelled in both areas, recording a six-inning, eight-strikeout performance in the Friars' 7-0 victory over HSAA.
 
Thursday vs. Mansfield
Top Pitcher: Will Heatly — Four strikeouts over 2 1/3 innings 
Top Hitter: John Medaris — 1-for-2, two stolen bases

Friday vs. HSAA
Top Pitcher: Tedy Orlando — Six innings, eight strikeouts, one hit
Top Hitter: Luke Sokolovic — 2-for-4, double, triple

Saturday vs. Midland Christian
Top Pitcher: John Medaris — Two innings, no hits allowed
Top Hitter: Sebastian Vasquez — 2-for-3, three RBIs, two runs, walk

Saturday vs. Southwest Christian
Top Pitcher: Sebastian Vasquez — Five innings, two strikeouts, two hits
Top Hitter:  Noah Herrmann — 1-for-3, two RBIs, walk

NEXT UP:
Bishop Lynch will compete in the Private School Classic from Thursday through Saturday. The Friars open against Fort Worth Christian at 7 p.m.
