Five Friars Named to TAPPS All-State Baseball Team

DALLAS – Bishop Lynch's Sebastian Vasquez was named to the TAPPS First Team All-State, while Tedy Orlando, Noah Herrmann, Will Heatly, and Jake Rodriguez also earned all-state recognition as the league office announced its 2025 baseball awards earlier this week.

Vasquez, earning his second consecutive all-state selection, led the Friars offensively in several categories, including batting average (.413), hits (45), doubles (8), RBIs (25), runs (31), and stolen bases (33). On the mound, the right-hander led the team in saves (3) and posted the second-best ERA (1.38) over 13 appearances.

Orlando and Herrmann both received Second Team All-State honors after strong campaigns. Despite suffering a season-ending injury late in the year, Orlando was outstanding for the Friars on the mound. The righty started a team-high 10 games, finishing with a 2–3 record. He led the team with 55 strikeouts and posted a 2.17 ERA.

Herrmann made major contributions as the team's everyday second baseman. He hit .324 in district play and finished third on the team in both runs scored (25) and stolen bases (24), while ranking fourth in RBIs (20).

Heatly and Rodriguez rounded out the Friars' all-state selections, with both seniors earning Honorable Mention All-State honors. Heatly was a consistent force on the mound, starting nine games and compiling a 9–2 record. His team-best nine wins were backed by an impressive 1.41 ERA and a .137 opponent batting average.

Rodriguez hit .286 on the season, raising his average to .324 during district play. All 10 of his RBIs came in once district play began, and he posted a fielding percentage near .900.
