Bishop Lynch Tennis Program Reaches Several Firsts Against John Paul II

PLANO, Texas -- The Bishop Lynch tennis team braved the cold Thursday afternoon and delivered a strong performance in a 5-3 loss to John Paul II.

Despite the defeat, the Friars achieved several individual milestones. Juniors Brianna Murphy and Alex Gardsbane played their first doubles match together and didn't miss a beat, winning 6-1, 6-4.

Sydney Frazure and Kayla Koonce also secured a doubles victory after rallying from a first-set loss, winning 3-6, 6-2, 10-8. This marked the first time Bishop Lynch swept the women's doubles matches against John Paul II.

On the men's side, Foster James and Henry Sullivan won their doubles match 7-5, 4-6, 10-6, securing the Friars' first-ever men's doubles victory over John Paul II.

The victories by Frazure, Koonce, and James also marked their first career wins against a Cardinals opponent.

Foster/William defeat Cardinals: 7-5, 4-6, 10-6
Cardinals defeat Alejandro/Saoirse: 6-3, 6-3
Cardinals defeat Krueger: 6-4, 6-1
Cardinals defeat Stuckey: 6-2, 6-3

Women's
Murphy/Gardsbane defeat Cardinals: 6-1, 6-4
Sydney/Kayla defeat Cardinals: 3-6, 6-2, 10-8
Cardinals defeat Kelleher: 6-2, 6-0
Cardinals defeat Ramirez: 6-3, 6-1

UP NEXT:
The Friars return to the court Tuesday, Feb. 18, against Prestonwood Christian. Matches begin at 3 p.m. at Oak Creek Tennis Center in Carrollton.
