Friars Open The Season with Victory at The Mack

| By:
DALLAS, Texas – Familiar faces led the way as the Bishop Lynch baseball team opened the 2025 season with a 5-1 victory over the Texas Alliance of Christian Athletics last Friday. The win marks the Friars' third consecutive season-opening victory.

Senior Sam Elrich got the nod as the opening-day starter, continuing his role as a cornerstone of the pitching staff after starting 22 games over the past two seasons. He delivered a dominant performance, striking out 10 batters over 4 2/3 innings while allowing no hits and earning the 16th win of his career.

At the plate, Sebastian Vasquez picked up right where he left off from last season, when he finished with a .340 batting average. The senior went a perfect 3-for-3 with a double and two RBIs.

Other standout performances included Will Heatly and Noah Herrmann. Heatly took over in relief of Elrich and struck out four batters over 2 1/3 innings. Meanwhile, leadoff hitter Herrmann contributed with a run, a walk, and two stolen bases.
