Friars Celebrate Senior Night with 8-5 Win Over Dallas Christian

| By:
DALLAS -- The Bishop Lynch Friars capped off a special Senior Night with a gritty back-and-forth 8-5 win over Dallas Christian on Tuesday evening on McIngvale Field.

Prior to first pitch, the Bishop Lynch athletic department honored 11 senior student-athletes for their contributions to the program: Luke Sokolovic, Jake Rodriguez, John Medaris, Lucas Bolton, Sam Elrich, Will Heatly, Sebastian Vasquez, Tedy Orlando, Pete Mulligan, Aiden Garza, and Bryce Rapavi.

Once the game got underway, the Friars found themselves in an early hole after a Dallas Christian RBI single in the top of the first. But Bishop Lynch responded quickly in the bottom half, putting up a three-spot. Jake Rodriguez delivered a clutch two-run single, followed by a groundout from Pete Mulligan that plated another to give BL a 3-2 lead.

Rodriguez came through again in the third, grounding out to bring home a run and extend the lead to 4-2. The Chargers briefly took the lead in the fourth, capitalizing on an error and a two-run single to make it 5-4, but the Friars weren't finished.

In the home half of the fourth, Jake Bacsik lined a base hit to center to tie it up, and Sebastian Vasquez followed with a sacrifice fly to put the Friars ahead for good. Bishop Lynch tacked on two insurance runs later to seal the win.

Will Heatly earned the win in relief, tossing three innings and allowing no earned runs on just two hits. Sam Elrich started on the bump, striking out three over two innings of work. Vasquez picked up the save, and Rapavi tossed a scoreless frame to shut the door.

Rodriguez led the offense with three RBIs, while six different Friars collected a hit—Rodriguez, Bacsik, Rapavi, Medaris, Elrich, and Sokolovic. On the base paths, the Friars were relentless, racking up eight stolen bases, including multiple swipes by Elrich, Bolton, and Sokolovic.

The Friars will wait and see who they will face off against in the first round of the playoffs.
