Friar Women Claim Ranger Relays Title

| By:
DALLAS - The Bishop Lynch women's swim team continued its dominant start to the season with a third consecutive victory, this time at the Ranger Relays last Saturday at the David A. Segal Family Aquatic Center. The Friars not only won the meet but also topped powerhouse programs including Allen, Plano West, Coppell, and Plano East.

The Ranger Relays featured eight events, all in relay format: the 200 Yard Medley, 200 Yard Butterfly, 400 Yard Individual Medley, 200 Yard Breaststroke, 200 Yard Freestyle, 400 Yard Medley, 200 Yard Backstroke, and 400 Yard Freestyle.

Despite entering only 15 swimmers, the Friar women placed in the top three in six of the eight events and took fifth in the other two. Led by Carolina Girard, Bishop Lynch captured two golds — the 200 Breaststroke Relay and the 400 Medley Relay. The team of Girard, Ellie McPike, Claire Fike, and Penelope Peck clocked a 2:20.35 to win the 200 Breaststroke, while Girard, Grier Beeson, Ella Whitney, and Caroline Hays posted a 4:16.41 to take the 400 Medley.

Beeson added a silver in the 400 Free Relay and a bronze in the 200 Backstroke Relay, helping Bishop Lynch defeat the other 13 competing schools.

With only five swimmers, the Bishop Lynch men still made their presence felt, earning valuable points in the 200 and 400 Free Relays. Led by Rush Trent, the Friars placed seventh in the 200 Free Relay and ninth in the 400 Free Relay, helping secure an eighth-place finish out of 16 teams in the combined standings.
