Holiday Hustle: Friars Shine Across Winter Break

| By:
DALLAS, TX — While the holiday break was filled with plenty of holly and jolly, Bishop Lynch Athletics remained hard at work as the calendar turned to 2026. Men's and women's basketball, along with wrestling and swimming, all competed in multiple events over the break and delivered several memorable performances. Below is a recap of each program's holiday action:

Men's Basketball:

The Bishop Lynch men's basketball team was not only the busiest program over the break but also one of the most successful. The Friars finished third at the prestigious Dallas ISD Holiday Invitational and won all of their other contests, compiling a 7–1 record over the break.

The highlight came in the third-place game against Cedar Hill, when Jeremiah Williams buried a buzzer-beating three-pointer to lift the Friars to a thrilling 77–75 victory.

Williams enjoyed a strong break overall, averaging 19.1 points per game while shooting 51.7% from the field. Jagan Thomas was equally impressive, as the junior averaged 20.3 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 2.6 assists across the eight games.

Women's Basketball:

The Bishop Lynch women's basketball team experienced an up-and-down stretch over the break, competing in the prestigious Sandra Meadows Tournament before traveling to Houston for two additional games. The Friars finished 3–4, closing the holiday on a high note with a gritty 52–47 road victory over Episcopal High School.

Eleanor Prosser led the Friars throughout the seven games, averaging 9.5 points and 5.2 rebounds per contest, both team highs.

Wrestling:

The men's varsity wrestling team traveled to Atlanta, Georgia, to compete in the national Prep Slam Tournament, finishing 22nd out of 46 schools in the highly competitive field.

Senior Asher Wheatley led the way for the Friars, placing sixth overall in the 285-pound weight class.

Swimming:

Bishop Lynch swimming competed at the TAPPS District Meet in Fort Worth, with both the men's and women's teams finishing third overall.

On the women's side, Grier Beeson highlighted the meet by capturing gold medals in both the 50 freestyle and the 100 backstroke. For the men, the standout performance came in the 200 freestyle relay, where the Friars claimed first place.
