Bishop Lynch High School Announces New Head Women's Soccer Coach

Alex Duran joins Bishop Lynch High School as head women's soccer coach, bringing more than 30 years of coaching and teaching experience to the Friars. A veteran leader in Texas high school soccer, Coach Duran has built a reputation for developing successful programs, mentoring student-athletes, and fostering excellence both on and off the field.

Coach Duran earned his Bachelor of Arts in Spanish and Education from the University of Tulsa, where he was a member of the 1991 men's soccer team that was later inducted into the University of Tulsa Hall of Fame in 2011. He also competed at the semi-professional level with the DFW Toros from 1991–96 and holds both a USSF National D License and a United Soccer Coaches National Diploma.

Throughout his coaching career, Coach Duran has served in leadership roles at John Horn High School, Allen High School, and Lovejoy High School, where he spent the last 11 seasons as Head Coach. During his tenure at Lovejoy, the Leopards reached the playoffs every season from 2015–25, captured four district championships, earned multiple Bi-District titles, and advanced to the regional quarterfinals three consecutive seasons. He compiled an overall record of 156 wins, 73 losses, and 32 ties as head coach.

A dedicated educator and mentor since 1995, Coach Duran looks forward to building a culture of excellence, discipline, and teamwork while developing student-athletes who will represent the Friars with pride both on the pitch and in the classroom.
