DALLAS — Coming off a TAPPS 6A state runner-up finish, the Bishop Lynch volleyball team opens the 2026 season Tuesday, Aug. 11, when the Friars host Hillcrest in the Competition Gym. First serve is scheduled for 6:30 p.m.
"We're excited for the upcoming season," head coach Shea Jenkins said. "We have a lot of leadership returning, including several starters, and we're adding some talented young players to the mix. We're excited about the combination of experience and new talent and what that can bring to our team this season."
Bishop Lynch enters the new season with high expectations after returning much of the core that guided the Friars to the state championship match last fall.
Leading the way is senior setter Maia Raleigh, a Fordham University commit who earned Second Team All-State, First Team All-District, and TAPPS District II Setter of the Year honors in 2025. Raleigh paced the Friars with 974 assists and 86 service aces while directing one of the state's top offenses.
Raleigh will once again have plenty of offensive weapons at her disposal. Seniors Kylie Love and Camila Figueroa return after leading the team with 329 and 299 kills, respectively, last season. Bishop Lynch also welcomes back two more of its top five attackers in Emory Mooney (184 kills) and Charlie Wells (169), giving the Friars one of the most experienced front rows in TAPPS.
Defensively, the Friars will look to replace the production of last season's leading blocker and libero, but return the next four leaders in both blocks and digs. Wells recorded 62 blocks a year ago, while Figueroa finished second on the team with 504 digs, providing a veteran foundation on both sides of the net.
The 2026 schedule features another challenging slate of district and non-district opponents as Bishop Lynch looks to build on last season's success and make another run at the TAPPS 6A State Championship.
