Each week, Bishop Lynch Athletics will recognize one male and one female student-athlete who best exemplify the values of Bishop Lynch Athletics both on and off the field of competition. The Athletes of the Week honor celebrates outstanding performances while also recognizing the character, consistency, leadership, and commitment that make these student-athletes exceptional representatives of the Friar family.
Matthew Pedraza, Bishop Lynch Football
Pedraza helped lead the Friars to a 41-14 victory over John Paul II on Friday, helping the Bishop Lynch offense compile 439 total yards, including 217 on the ground. A consistent contributor and dependable presence for the team, Pedraza continues to make an impact through his performance, work ethic, and commitment to those around him. Beyond his contributions on the field, he is recognized as an outstanding teammate and an exceptional person who represents the values of Bishop Lynch Athletics.
Maia Raleigh, Bishop Lynch Volleyball
Raleigh delivered a career week across the Friars' two matches, recording two double-doubles while averaging 52.5 assists, 14.0 digs, and 4.5 aces per match. Her performance included an impressive 60-assist outing against Hockaday. A four-year starter, Raleigh has become the heart and soul of the Bishop Lynch volleyball program, providing consistent leadership, energy, and commitment both on the court and within the team. Her impact extends well beyond the stat sheet, making her an outstanding example of what it means to be a Friar.
