PLANO — Returning to Plano for the first time since defeating Prestonwood Christian Academy in the 2025 regional playoffs, the Bishop Lynch volleyball team faced another challenging matchup with the Lions Tuesday evening at the PCA Athletic Complex. The Friars fell 3-0 to the top-seeded Lions, moving to 19-8 overall and 1-1 in district play, while Prestonwood improved to 26-4 overall and 1-0 in district play.
Prestonwood Christian 3, Bishop Lynch 0 (25-23, 25-17, 25-12)
The matchup carried plenty of significance for both programs. It marked Bishop Lynch's first district meeting with Prestonwood since the Friars ended their losing streak against the Lions last season. The teams also met earlier this year at the Texas Allen Tournament, where Prestonwood earned a 2-0 victory in two tightly contested sets, both ending 25-23.
The matchup was also highlighted by The Dallas Morning News as a top-10 battle in the Class 5A-others area poll. Read more about the matchup here.
Tuesday's opening set lived up to the anticipation, with both teams trading runs in a competitive back-and-forth battle. The Friars and Lions exchanged momentum throughout the frame, but Prestonwood managed to close out the set 25-23 and take an early advantage.
The second set began in a similar fashion, with Bishop Lynch staying within striking distance early. The Lions eventually found their rhythm offensively, particularly from their outside hitters, to pull away for a 25-17 victory and take a 2-0 lead.
The Black & White continued to compete in the third set, but Prestonwood created separation with an efficient offensive performance. The Lions hit .412 in the frame, while the Friars finished at -.067, allowing Prestonwood to close out the set 25-12.

The Friars return to action Thursday, Sept. 24, when they host Nolan Catholic in a non-district matchup. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m. in the Competition Gym.
