Friars head to Fort Worth with win streak, momentum

On the heels of two exciting wins, Bishop Lynch takes off on another Thursday night road trip, this time heading to Fort Worth to take on O.D. Wyatt at Clark Stadium. The Friars (2-1) and Chaparrals (0-3) kickoff at 7:00 PM. There is no live video or audio available for the contest. However, live updates can be followed on our Twitter account: https://twitter.com/blathletics.

Wyatt Overview
The Chaps are winless but coming off their best performance of the season – a 22-14 loss to Trimble Tech on Saturday. But keep in mind Wyatt played on Saturday, meaning the Chaps have had just three days to prepare for the Friars, who have had a full week of preparation. Wyatt was a 5-6 playoff team just a year ago but saw a ton of talent leave campus due to graduation.
Last season, the Friars were scheduled to host the Chaps in a non-district game that was eventually canceled due to rain and lightning delays and never played, leaving each team with just nine regular season games.

Wyatt Offense
Continuity has been a huge problem for the Chaps this season, as three quarterbacks and seven different ball carriers have been used at various times. Wyatt averages just 13.7 points and 132.6 total yards per game (89.3 passing, 43.3 rushing). They have yet to amass 200 yards of offense in a game this season and have converted just 21 percent of their third down opportunities (6-of-29). They've also managed just 23 first downs in three games. To put in comparison, the Friars had 24 first downs in Frisco last week. Paris Handy (200 yards, 3 TD passing) and Toney Green (91 yards, TD receiving) lead the offense. The Chaps' leading rusher is Tamajdre Ross with 45 yards on 13 carries and the team combines for 1.9 yards per carry.

Wyatt Defense
The numbers would indicate Wyatt is a decent defensive team, giving up just 275 yards per game and a 27 percent success rate on third downs. However, the Chaps are surrendering 37.3 points per game with totals of 40 scored by Seagoville, 50 by FW South Hills, and 22 by Trimble Tech. Of the six turnovers forced by the Wyatt defense, four of those came last weekend against Trimble Tech, in the form of four interceptions. Robert Wilson returned his interception last weekend for a touchdown, while Keroyta Browner has produced a pair of sacks and two fumble recoveries on the defensive line.

Looking Ahead
After consecutive Thursday night road games, the Friars will be back in the friendly confines of Roffino Stadium on Friday, September 27 to face San Antonio's Cornerstone Christian, a TAPPS Independent program. The Warriors are 3-0 heading into a home game Friday against Bishop Dunne.
