COLLEGE STATION - Bishop Lynch men's basketball unbelievable season came to an end in the TAPPS 6A state championship game in a 73-57 bout vs. Antonian.
The Friars were going into the game shorthanded as
Brice Davis, BL's leading scorer on the year, was out with a knee injury he suffered against John Paul II.
Grayson Bell was called upon and got the start, and he did not disappoint. Bell made a few big plays early, along with two threes from
Logan Epes and a three from
Sean Calloway to give the Friars an early 15-4 lead. The Friars would wind up leading 17-10 after the first quarter.
Antonian was able to quickly erase the early deficit with their great outside shooting ability. The Apaches would take a 24-22 halftime lead. The third quarter would be the deciding quarter in the game. Antonian would come out and go on a 7-0 run in a matter of 30 seconds to take a 36-24 lead. The Apaches would continue to control the game and take a 47-30 advantage going into the fourth.
Imo Essien and company would continue to fight throughout the finish of the game. Essien would finish with 21 points, all coming in the second half, but they would never be able to get within 10 points in the fourth.Â
The Bishop Lynch men's basketball team had one of their best seasons in recent history. Finishing the year 24-9 and upsetting one of the top teams in the state in the semi-finals, there will be many memories this team will walk away with.Â

Logan Epes were all named to the all-tournament team.Â
