DALLAS -- The Bishop Lynch women's soccer team opened up their season with a 7-0 victory last week against Liberty Christian and they did not slow down in their home opener as they defeated Home School Athletic Association 3-1.
After a slow first thirty minutes of the match, the Friars put together a great attack. Rowen Myers found
Danielle Howard streaking down the right side of the pitch. Howard was able to use her speed and then cross it to the middle of the field and found a wide-open
Katie Visintainer. Visintainer was able to one-time it with her left foot to the upper ninety to give the Friars the 1-0 advantage.
BL wasn't done yet for the first half either, as they continued to press HSAA. After
Bella Alamo earned the Friars a corner kick,
Alyx Beard curved the corner into the box and it deflected off an HSAA defender to make it 2-0.
In the second half, Beard would score her second goal of the match, this time without any deflection, on a spectacular 37-yard free kick that went right over the opposing goalie.
HSAA would get one past BL starting goalkeeper
Lily Bracken with under 20 minutes left in the match, but that was about it for the opposing offense. Bracken had two saves in the match.
Sub-Varsity:
The junior varsity team scored a late goal with under seven minutes to play to tie HSAA 1-1.
Next Up:
Bishop Lynch plays under the lights of Roffino again later this week on Thursday, November 10th, against Texas Storm at 8:00 PM.
