FORT WORTH -- The Bishop Lynch women's soccer team starts district play with two straight wins with a convincing 2-0 victory over Nolan Catholic on Monday night.
The Friars swarmed the Vikings all night as they had a total of 22 shots in the game. Shots are good, but they are only worth anything if you get them by the goalie. Near the end of the first half,
Alyx Beard put the Friars ahead 1-0 with a great finish. Beard is accustomed to finding the back of the net this season as she leads the Friars with six goals on the year.
The score was 1-0 at halftime in favor of the black and white. As good as the offense was, the defense might have been better. The Friars not only did not let Nolan get a shot on goal, but they didn't allow the Vikings to get a shot off period.
In the second half, after assisting on Beard's goal in the first half,
Bella Alamo capitalized on her opportunity to put one behind the Viking keeper. Alamo's goal, her fourth of the season, made it 2-0 Friars which would wind up being the final score.
Madison Murphy assisted Alamo's goal. Murphy has a team-high five assists on the season.
Sub-Varsity:
The ladies continued their spectacular season with a 5-0 victory over Nolan last night to improve to 5-0-1 on the season.
Next Up:
