DALLAS, TX -- The Bishop Lynch men's basketball team opened up their season with an 82-57 victory over Skyline on Saturday afternoon. This is the third straight season that the Friars have opened with a win, improving to a 9-2 all-time record in season openers under Head Coach Kyle May.

There was much excitement coming into this season, which had to do with Devin Miller returning for the Friars. Miller was named Honorable Mention All-State last year, averaging 6.3 points, 3.3 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 1.9 steals a game. He lived up to the hype in the first game of the season as the senior led the team with 19 points while also grabbing seven rebounds and nabbing eight steals.

Baker Trent, who has much experience at the varsity level, completes the starting backcourt for the Friars and is a great partner with Miller. Trent also scored double-digits (18) and dished out eight assists.

Kyle May's teams in the past few seasons have been known for their blue-collar feel with hard-nosed defense and pressure all 94 feet of the court. In the first game, the Friar defense showed that same attitude as they had 16 steals and held Skyline to just 21% shooting from three-pointers.

The Friars have their home opener tonight, Novemebr 14 in the Compeition Gym. They will be hosting Argyle and tip-off will be at 7:30 p.m.
