PLANO -- Despite being down their top scorer
Natalie Cardenas, the Friars fought hard against the #1 seed John Paul II Cardinals last night. After having a halftime lead over the Cardinals, JPII pulled away in the second half to defeat the Friars 56-41.
Bishop Lynch came out in the first half and played really great team ball on both sides of the court. On the 12 field goals the Friars made, they assisted on 11 of them. Leading the way was junior
Ellery Sample, who had 12 of her 14 points in the first half. She also finished with 10 rebounds to complete her sixth double-double of the season.
Maddie Heiss was the only other Friar to reach double-digits in the game Tuesday night. She finished with 13 points with three three-pointers. The senior guard also had two rebounds and two assists.
The Friars finished the season with a record of 24-10, 10-2. They are the second seed in TAPPS 6A-Division 1. Their first playoff game is set as they will take on Incarnate Word-Houston, the TAPPS 6A-Division 2 seventh seed. The game will be on Friday at 5:00 PM in College Station.
