SAN ANTONIO -- The Bishop Lynch women's swim program has turned into one of the most consistent programs not only on campus but in the entire state. The team competed at a high level and finished second at the TAPPS state championship on Wednesday. The women now have one championship and three runners-up in the past four years.
Amie Perna, an Auburn University commit, followed up her all-star regional performance with an even more spectacular performance in the Alamo City. The junior won the Swimmer of the Meet with three golds and one silver. Perna got a silver in the 200 free and gold in the 100 backstroke. Her time of 54.74 in the backstroke was good enough to break her own school and TAPPS record she set last year at the state meet. She also won golds swimming on the 200 medley relay and the 400 free relay teams.
Hanna Whitney, who was also swimming in her third state championship, had an equally impressive afternoon in the pool as her teammate. She finished with four golds, in the 200 IM and 100 breaststroke and the 200 medley relay and 200 free relay.
The ladies won two of the three relays and finished second by just 0.19 seconds in the third. The 200 free relay team of
Hanna Whitney,
Ella Nichols,
Abby Beeson and
Amie Perna earned the gold by almost two seconds and the 400 free relay team of
Phoebe Johnson,
Ella Nichols,
Lily Roe and
Amie Perna closed out the meet with a bang, winning by almost six seconds. The silver place 200 medley relay team consisted of

Maisie Swift and
Caroline Ellis
The men didn't have a big team at the state meet, but the team of
Ford Ellis,
Raegan Stickney,
Heath Sparks and
Terrance Thomas had some great swims. They finished eighth in the 200 medley relay and ninth in the 200 free relay.
