DALLAS, TX -- The Bishop Lynch swim program opened up its 2023-24 season with a dual meet against Jesuit and Ursuline over the weekend. With a few of their starts out, the women's team put up a great effort but lost 92-77 to the Bears. The men, who were outnumbered 5:1, had some great individual performances but lost 131-22 to the Rangers.
Amie Perna proved why she is one of the best swimmers not only in TAPPS, but in the entire state of Texas. The Auburn commit won all four races she participated in - 200 Medley Relay, 100 Freestyle, 100 Backstroke, and the 400 Free Relay.
Hanna Whitney also shined on Saturday, finishing with three golds and a silver. She joined Perna on both relays while finishing first in the 100 Breaststroke and second in the 200 IM.
Ella Whitney, Hanna's younger sister, had a great opening meet for the Friars as she also finished with three golds and a silver. She debuted in the 200 Freestyle where she finished first and followed that up with a gold in the 100 Butterfly. She helped BL finish second in the 200 Free relay and was on the 400 Free Relay that took home the gold.
Holt Harmon was the leader of the men's team on Saturday. The freshman not only made his debut but won the only race for the men. He won the 500 Free by nearly eight seconds while finishing third in his other three races.
