DALLAS, TX --
Nathan Day's last-second three-pointer didn't drop last night as Bishop Lynch fell to Parish Episcopal 53-52 in the regular season finale. The Friars finished the season with a 17-16, 3-7 record to finish fifth in TAPPS 6A - District 1.
This is the Friars' third straight loss, all of which have been by three points or less to teams who finish above them in the standings.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Friars and Panthers played an explosive first half that saw multiple lead changes and fast-paced basketball. As a team, the Friars went 5-8 from deep in the first two quarters which helped them to a 36-35 halftime advantage. The threes were hit by
Jeremiah Williams,
Grady Norton,
Davien Taylor, and
Nathan Day hit two.
After combining to score 71 points in the first half, both teams struggled to score in the second half as they both struggled to score just 34 points. The Friars shot 38% from the field and the Panthers shot just 30% from the field. The difference in the one-point contest was the free throw attempts as Parish shot seven free throws in the second half to BL's zero.

SUB-VARSITY:
Junior Varsity: The JV men's team capped off their stellar season with a 77-46 victory over Parish Episcopal last night. This final contest was an encore from winning the TAPPS Junior Varsity District Championship Tournament this past weekend by defeating Nolan Catholic in the semi-finals and Prestonwood Christian in the championship. They finished their season going 22-4, 10-0 - winning their final 18 games.
Freshman: The freshman capped off their season with a 68-30 victory over Parish Episcopal last night. The team finished with a 17-8, 8-2 record and won their final seven games of the year.
