DALLAS, TX -- The Bishop Lynch men's basketball team fell short of upsetting Parish Episcopal on Saturday night as the Friars lost 54-49 in the TAPPS Regionals. The Friars fought back throughout the entire game, but just couldn't take the lead when they needed to most.
Baker Trent led the team with 15 points, while
Devin Miller and
Jeremiah Williams each contributed nine. Miller also grabbed seven rebounds and had four steals and a block as the senior played in his final game for the Friars.
Bishop Lynch trailed by three after the first (15-12), by two at the half (26-24), and by four after three (42-38) in the tight matchup against a familiar foe. In the fourth quarter, the Friars tied it up multiple times but couldn't get over the hump. With 4:30 left, Williams had a great move and finished in the paint to tie it up at 45. Later, Trent tied it up at 47 and the Friars even had the ball down 50-49 with 2:32 remaining but had a couple of rim outs that led to the 54-49 defeat.
Bishop Lynch finished their season going 18-17 on the year as they advanced to the TAPPS Regionals. Congratulations to the entire team on another great Friar basketball season. Thank you to Friar Nation for your amazing support throughout the season.
