Bishop Lynch with a big comeback victory over Nolan on senior night

DALLAS, TX -- The Bishop Lynch men's basketball team ends their two-game losing streak with a big 67-60 come-from-behind victory over Nolan Catholic last Friday night. Not only did the Friars earn the district victory, but they were able to do it while celebrating the Class of 2024 with their annual Senior Night.

HOW IT HAPPENED:
The game could not have started any worse for the Friars as the Vikings went on a 20-0 scoring run in the first quarter to go up 20-4 with just under two minutes left in the quarter. Bishop Lynch found a spark late in the quarter after Nathan Day scored a quick five points, including a three-pointer to make it a 10-point deficit after one.

The Friars settled in defensively in the second quarter as they held Nolan to just 3-14 shooting while getting seven steals. Day continued his great start to the game by scoring a team-high six points in the second quarter with Devin Miller adding five. All this led to the Friars shrinking their deficit to just three points with the Vikings taking a 33-30 halftime lead.

Just 49 seconds into the third quarter, the Friars took their first lead since it was 4-0 with a Jeremiah Williams jump shot, and momentum seemed to be in favor of the Friars. But with big-time three-point shooting, the Vikings not only retook the lead but with just under three minutes left in the third they were up 44-38. Knowing that they needed to close the gap before the fourth, seniors on the team stepped up big time in the final couple minutes of the third. Devin Miller scored four points, Bobby Slaughter had a bucket and Davien Taylor dished out a couple of assists to not only close the gap but to give the Friars a 48-45 lead going into the fourth.

Now that the Friars had the lead, this time they didn't give it up. The fourth quarter really belonged to Davien Taylor who not only had three assists and two big dunks, but one of his dunks was a thunderous slam that erupted the Competition Gym. You can watch that dunk here.

This was not only a big win for the Friars, but it was a team win in which they had to dig deep on multiple occasions. They had to come back twice and then had to hold onto the lead. Made it even better that Friar Nation had packed the gym.
