DALLAS – The Bishop Lynch volleyball team swept Legacy Christian in straight sets to claim its district home opener Thursday night in the Competition Gym.
Bishop Lynch 3, Legacy Christian 0 (25-22, 25-14, 25-16)
With the victory, the Friars (19-10, 2-1) bounced back into the win column and improved to 2-1 in district play. Junior setter Maia Raleigh had another standout performance, dishing out 32 assists and firing in five aces. Raleigh has now averaged 35.3 assists per match in district play. Emory Mooney also continued her emergence in her first varsity season, tallying nine kills on a .286 hitting percentage with two blocks.
The Friars looked to set the tone early in front of a strong home crowd, but the Eagles (19-6-1, 0-2) came ready to compete. The opening set was tight throughout, with the score knotted at 18-18 before Charlie Wells delivered a key kill to spark Bishop Lynch. Moments later, Mooney sealed the set with another kill, giving the Friars the 25-22 win.
Both teams struggled offensively in the second, but Bishop Lynch's 12 kills compared to just four from Legacy proved decisive. Kylie Love fueled the effort with five kills and six digs as the Friars pulled away for a 25-14 victory.
The third set was all Bishop Lynch, with the Friars putting together their most efficient frame of the night. They hit a blistering .450 with 10 kills and only one error while adding five blocks, including three from Maddie Sue Pflum. Pflum also added three kills to help close out the 25-16 win and complete the sweep.

TEAM QUOTES
Junior setter Maia Raleigh on another great setting night and the relationship she has with her teammates...
"Being a setter means being able to communicate with every teammate in their own unique way. It helps me understand what the team needs to be successful. I take pride in building close relationships with my teammates so we know we can trust each other on the court."
Junior outside Kylie Love on her success since coming back from injury...
"The best part about stepping back on the court after my injury has definitely been being with my team again and feeling like I'm truly part of it. Sitting out and watching from the sidelines was tough, so actually getting to play, contribute, and help us start district strong has been the best feeling. I missed the energy, the intensity, and the rush you get during games. It's made me appreciate every moment even more, and now I'm more motivated than ever to keep pushing and supporting my teammates however I can."
