Bishop Lynch at Nolan Catholic: Area Preview

DALLAS, Texas — Bishop Lynch men's soccer will make the westbound trip on I-30 as the Friars take on Nolan Catholic in tonight's TAPPS Division I area playoff matchup. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. at Doskocil Stadium and will be livestreamed on Nolan Catholic's Hudl Fan.

These two teams are familiar foes, having met in December when the Friars hosted Nolan. In that matchup, Bishop Lynch won 2-1 with goals from Noah Chac and Lucas Martinez.

Bishop Lynch at a Glance 

The Friars have proven all season that they are difficult to beat, finishing with an overall record of 10-7-4. Their 2-4 district record is misleading because TAPPS doesn't allow ties in the regular season. Three of the four losses came in penalty kicks, and the other was a 1-0 defeat to the defending state champion and this year's district champion, John Paul II.

Offensively, the Friars have a strong one-two punch in Nikolas Bartkoski and Moises Bernabe. The sophomore and junior duo lead the team with nine goals each this season. Geovany Flores has emerged as a key playmaker, leading the team with seven assists—five of which have come in district play.

Nolan Catholic at a Glance 

Nolan Catholic (6-13-1, 3-3) didn't have the best overall record but secured the No. 2 seed in District 1 with crucial wins to close out the season. Their 3-1 victory over Legacy Christian clinched the No. 2 spot.

When the Vikings are clicking on all cylinders, they look unbeatable. But when they struggle, opponents can exploit gaps in their lineup. In Nolan's victories, they average 2.6 goals per game, whereas in their losses, they allow nearly three goals per game.
