Bishop Lynch at John Paul II: Regional Preview

DALLAS, Texas — Bishop Lynch men's soccer heads north on I-635 tomorrow to face defending state champion John Paul II in a TAPPS Division I regional matchup. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. at John Paul II's Athletic Stadium and will be livestreamed on NFHS Network.

These district rivals are no strangers to each other. John Paul II won both regular-season meetings against Bishop Lynch, though both matchups were tightly contested.

Bishop Lynch at a Glance 

The Friars earned their 11th win of the season Monday night, rallying for a 2-1 victory over Nolan Catholic in the area round. The come-from-behind road win boosted confidence in this young squad.

One of Bishop Lynch's strengths is its balanced attack. Seven players have scored at least four goals this season led by Moises Bernabe, who has found the back of the net in three straight matches.

John Paul II at a Glance 

The defending state and district champion Cardinals have been dominant this season, finishing 6-0 in district play with a 13-2 overall record.

Aside from Monday's 2-1 loss to HSAA in a playoff tune-up, John Paul II had won 12 straight matches dating back to November. In nine of those victories, the Cardinals scored at least two goals. However, two of the three times they were held under that mark came against Bishop Lynch.
