Bishop Lynch Invitational a Success as Women's Team Runs Away with Victory

| By:
DALLAS — Bishop Lynch hosted its annual Track and Field Invitational on Wednesday, and for the first time in three years, the weather was on the athletes' side. The previous two years were rained out, but this season, conditions were perfect for a great day of competition at the Brent Thorne Track.

A total of 455 student-athletes from 12 schools competed in the highly competitive meet, including Choctaw High School from Oklahoma, which competes in OSSAA Class 6A. Choctaw's depth showed as it finished first on the men's side. On the women's side, host team Bishop Lynch secured the title, defeating Princeton 192-174 to win its second consecutive meet.

"After two years of rainouts, it was great to finally host the BL Invitational, and our athletes performed well," Head Coach Stuart Kantor said. "The girls won their second consecutive team title. They won the Hockaday Split H Relays last week and followed with a balanced effort on the track and in the field tonight against teams like Princeton (UIL 5A), Greenhill (a perennial SPC power), and Oklahoma's Choctaw (6A)."

Men's Team Highlights

The men's team finished in fourth place and had several standout performances. Ty Bradley competed in his first-ever triple jump and recorded a 40-2.25 mark to finish second. William Schroeder set a personal record in the high jump to claim first, and Luke Sokolovic ran his first-ever 100-meter race, finishing in 11.33 FAT (Fully Automatic Timing).

Women's Team Highlights

The Bishop Lynch women's team secured the championship with outstanding performances throughout the meet. One of the day's biggest highlights came in the 400-meter race where the Friars swept the podium. Ofure Obasuyi, Ava Marosz, and Naomi Mangwiro all finished under 1:04. The team also placed second in all three relay events, earning valuable points on the way to victory.
Kantor credited the success of the meet to the support from the Bishop Lynch Athletic Department and faculty.

"None of this is possible without the help of so many people, from our athletic directors and the coaches who ran events to the teachers who stepped into support roles and the football players who helped as the hurdle crew," Kantor said. "The Bishop Lynch facilities team ensures that the entire campus is a first-choice option to host a meet."
