Friars Sweep Titles at Bishop Lynch Track & Field Invitational

DALLAS — Bishop Lynch High School hosted its annual Track & Field Invitational on Wednesday afternoon, welcoming nine schools to the Brent Thorne Track at Roffino Stadium for a competitive day of racing, jumping, and throwing.

When the final events concluded, both Friar squads stood atop the podium as the Bishop Lynch men's and women's teams each captured team titles at the meet.

A total of 304 student-athletes competed in the invitational, representing Bishop Lynch High School, The Covenant School, Episcopal School of Dallas, Great Hearts High School, Greenhill School, Hillcrest High School, The Hockaday School, Kennedale Fellowship Academy, and Trinity Christian Academy.

"It's great to see that as we head into Spring Break, the veterans are not only recording great times and marks, but they're showing leadership," said head coach Stuart Kantor. "That leadership is helping our younger athletes without much experience, and girls who just came from soccer. This can only help us when we get to the postseason."

Men's Team Highlights
Nick Payne led the way for the Friars, reaching the podium in all four of his events. He captured first place in the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.92 and finished third in the long jump with a leap of 20-4.5.

Payne also ran the third leg on the Friars' first-place 4x100-meter relay team and the second-place 4x200-meter relay.

Other Friars who claimed first-place finishes included Harman Pope in the 3200 meters, Benjamin Leon in the high jump, Mason Schopfer in the discus, and Darius Mitra in the 400 meters.

Women's Team Highlights
On the women's side, Emme Driscoll paced the Friars with a dominant distance performance, winning both the 3200 meters and the 1600 meters.

Ra'Nyah Lockhart Sadler also delivered a standout afternoon, winning the 200 meters with a time of 25.84 while contributing to the first-place 4x100-meter relay and the second-place 4x400-meter relay teams.

Other Friars who stood atop the podium included Olivia Joseph in the triple jump, Presley Tomatis in the discus, Trinity Thurman in the pole vault, and Ofure Obasuyi in the 400 meters.
