Women Claim Back-to-Back District Titles, Men Finish Runner-Up

ARGYLE — For the second consecutive season, the Bishop Lynch women's track and field team captured the TAPPS 6A District II championship, outscoring Ursuline Academy 249-199. The Friar men also delivered a strong performance at Warrior Stadium, finishing as district runner-up with 211 points, just 19 behind champion John Paul II.

The Friar women were led by Ra'Nyah Lockhart-Sadler and Ava Sanders, who each qualified for regionals in both the 100 and 200 meters while also contributing to a first-place finish in the 4x100-meter relay.

Lockhart-Sadler continued her record-breaking season, setting a new school record in the 200 meters with a winning time of 25.03. The sophomore also turned in a strong performance in the 100 meters, finishing with a time of 12.72.

Sanders placed fourth in both sprint events, running 13.12 in the 100 meters and 27.23 in the 200. The duo teamed with Alaina Oommen and Zoe Turner to claim the 4x100 relay title with a time of 48.97.

Men's Team Highlights

On the men's side, Nick Payne and Harman Pope led the Friars, each qualifying for regionals in three individual events.

Payne captured first place in the 100 meters in a photo finish, clocking an 11.462 to edge Prestonwood's Bixler (11.470). The junior also placed fourth in the 200 meters (22.98) and took third in the long jump with a mark of 19-7. He was also a member of the 4x100 relay team that qualified for regionals with a fourth-place finish (44.01).

Pope excelled in the distance events, qualifying in the 800, 1600, and 3200 meters. He won the 1600 meters by nearly four seconds with a time of 4:45.47 and added a fourth-place finish in the 800 (2:03.18). On Thursday, Pope also claimed gold in the 3200 meters, finishing in 9:59.89 as the only runner to break the 10-minute mark.

To qualify for the regional meet, athletes needed to finish in the top four of their respective events, including relays. The following Friars secured spots in next week's regional competition:
