Pope’s Record-Breaking Meet Leads Friars to Team Title at Bradley V Urschel Invitational

DALLAS — Behind a historic performance from Harman Pope, the Bishop Lynch men's track and field team captured its fourth meet victory of the season at the Bradley V Urschel Invitational this past weekend. The women's team also turned in a strong showing, finishing second overall.

The Friar men totaled 121 points to edge second-place Fort Worth Country Day by 27.5 points, while also finishing ahead of TAPPS competitors Nolan Catholic (85), John Paul II (57), and Parish Episcopal (31).

On the women's side, Bishop Lynch scored 133.5 points to place second behind meet champion Hockaday (196). The Friars finished ahead of TAPPS schools John Paul II (24) and Nolan Catholic (17).

Men's Team Highlights
Harman Pope delivered a standout performance, winning three individual events — the 3200 meters, 2000-meter steeplechase, and 1600 meters — while also running on the second-place 4x800-meter relay team.

The junior broke two school records during the meet, setting a new mark in the steeplechase and helping the 4x800 relay team — alongside Dash Raya, Pierce Oxford, and Alex Malakoff — set another program record.

Nick Payne also turned in a strong performance, earning podium finishes in two events. He placed second in the 200 meters and was part of the third-place 4x100-meter relay team, while also finishing fifth in the 100 meters.

Women's Team Highlights
The Friars saw multiple athletes reach the podium at least twice, led by Naomi Mangwiro, Ofure Obasuyi, Ra'Nyah Lockhart Sadler, and Zoe Turner.

That group contributed to a first-place finish in the 4x400-meter relay. Individually, Mangwiro placed third in the 800 meters, Obasuyi took third in the 400 meters, and Lockhart Sadler finished second in the 200 meters.

Lockhart Sadler and Turner were also part of the second-place 4x100-meter relay team alongside Harper Alcantar and Ava Sanders.
