Women Win Regionals on Record-Breaking Afternoon

ARLINGTON, Texas – After capturing the district crown, the Bishop Lynch women's track team raced past the TAPPS 6A North Region competition to add another trophy to an already decorated season.

The Friars broke two school records during the meet. The first came from the 4x100-meter relay team of Ra'Nyah Lockhart Sadler, Ava Sanders, Zoe Turner and Sarah Sullivan, who shattered their own school record set earlier this season with a time of 48.67 seconds.



The second record came from freshman Ra'Nyah Lockhart Sadler. She broke a school record that had stood longer than any current student has been alive. Her time of 25.38 in the 200 meters edged out the previous mark of 25.40, set by Chandra Rideau Matthews in 1997.


Rideau Matthews responded to the news on social media, commenting: "Congrats Ra'Nyah! Track at BL were some of my best memories. Hope it's been for you as well!"

Other standout performances contributed to the team's regional title. Ofure Obasuyi had an exceptional meet, reaching the podium in the high jump (third), 100 meters (third) and 400 meters (second), and anchoring the third-place 4x400 relay team. Aliyah Bruner qualified for state in both the shot put (second) and discus (fourth). Trinity Thurman (pole vault) and Lexi Bevers (300-meter hurdles) each took home gold medals.

On the men's side, Ty Bradley had a strong showing, qualifying for state in both the triple jump and 110-meter hurdles. Coleman Gieselman claimed the lone gold for the men with a 13-6 mark in the pole vault.
