Friars Advance to THSLL Championship with Road Win Over Emery/Weiner

HOUSTON — After capturing the program's first Texas High School Lacrosse League (THSLL) Class D division championship this year, the Bishop Lynch men's lacrosse team punched its ticket to the THSLL Class D state championship with an 8-7 road victory over Emery/Weiner at Caress Field.

Harrison Hatfield led the Friars with three goals, while Ryan Vigil and Hudson Hatfield each added two. Corbin Hernandez and Cole Gathings contributed a pair of assists apiece in the win.

The two teams battled throughout all four quarters in a tightly contested matchup. Emery/Weiner struck first, scoring the lone goal of the opening quarter to take a 1-0 lead.

Bishop Lynch responded in the second, finding its offensive rhythm with four goals to take a 4-3 advantage into halftime.

The third quarter proved to be the turning point. After Emery/Weiner opened the half with two quick goals to regain the lead, the Friars answered in a big way, scoring four straight goals to seize control and carry an 8-5 lead into the final period.

In the fourth quarter, the Jaguars made a late push with two goals, but the Friars' defense held firm down the stretch to secure the one-goal victory.

NEXT UP
The Friars will face the winner of All Saints and Canyon in the THSLL Class D State Championship on Saturday, May 9, at Highlander Stadium in Dallas.
