DALLAS — The Bishop Lynch volleyball team enters TAPPS 6A District 2 play with plenty of momentum after closing the non-district portion of its schedule with an impressive 18-7 record.
The Friars' 18 victories already surpass last season's win total of 17 and mark the program's best start since 2022. That season, Bishop Lynch entered district play with a 21-7 record and went on to finish 33-11 as the TAPPS 6A state runner-up.
FRIARS AT A GLANCE
After a challenging non-district slate that featured 25 matches and three tournaments, Bishop Lynch is prepared to make its mark in district play.
The Friars' 18-7 record includes a 3-0 mark at home, a 3-1 record on the road, and a 12-6 mark on neutral courts.
Bishop Lynch has improved on both sides of the net compared to last season, raising its team hitting percentage and averaging almost one additional kill per set.
The biggest improvement has come at the service line. The Friars are averaging one fewer service error per match while recording 0.5 more aces per match. Four players have already recorded at least 24 aces this season: Maia Raleigh (56), Kylie Love (27), Camila Figueroa (27), and Maddie Pope (24).

LOOKING AHEAD
The Friars enter district play with familiarity against nearly every opponent on the schedule. Bishop Lynch has already faced Prestonwood Christian, John Paul II, Parish Episcopal, Trinity Christian Academy, and Liberty Christian during non-district play.
The Friars are undefeated against four of those five opponents, with the lone setback coming against Prestonwood. Bishop Lynch fell to the Lions in two sets, 25-23 and 25-23, at the Allen Texas Open.
Bishop Lynch opens district play at home against John Paul II on Thursday, Sept. 17, at 6 p.m. in the Competition Gym. The Friars will then travel to Plano to face Prestonwood on Sept. 22 before hosting rival Ursuline on Sept. 29.
The Friars will make their only back-to-back district road trip of the season on Oct. 1 and Oct. 6, traveling to Frisco to face Legacy Christian before heading to Plano for a rematch with John Paul II.
Bishop Lynch returns home to host Prestonwood on Oct. 8, then travels to the Jane Neuhoff Athletic Center to face Ursuline on Oct. 15. The Friars will close district play at home against Legacy Christian on Oct. 20 in the Competition Gym.
