ADDISON - After getting some much-needed rest over the holiday break the Bishop Lynch women's soccer team played their first game of the new year against district opponent Trinity Christian Academy.
Though the ladies hadn't played with each other for nearly an entire month with their last game being on December 8th, they were able to knock off the rust and defeat the Lady Trojans 2-0.
BL got the lead midway through the first half with a great display of passing that ended with
Ellis Kuntz finding
Sasha Mascarenhas who got the Friars on the scoreboard. This was Mascarenhas' fourth goal of the season.
The halftime score was 1-0, though it felt much bigger than that. But since it was 1-0, the ladies wanted to come out in the second half and get an insurance goal.
Alyx Beard has already had some incredible goals this season and in the second half, she added to it. Off the bounce, she scored from 30 yards out to give the Friars a 2-0 lead that would eventually hold up to the final whistle.
Lily Bracken started in the net for the Friars and had three saves throughout the night.
Alicia Gonzalez finished the game in the net, having one save. They combined for the clean sheet, the fourth of the season for BL.
Next Up:
The Friars will play their first home game since November 29th when they host Parish Episcopal on Monday, January 9th.
