DALLAS -- The women's basketball team held off a late push from Ursuline Academy last Friday night and won 60-54 in the penultimate game of the season.
Maddie Heiss and
Natalie Cardenas continue to lead the way for the Friars. The senior tandem each scored in double figures for the fifth time in the six district games they have played together.
Bella Piccioni had one of her best games all season on Friday night. The senior guard had 12 points, six rebounds, five assists and three steals. Piccioni isn't known to be a scorer but she can do it if called upon. Having her score in double-digits will be important for the Friars going forward.
Ellery Sample had another near-double-double down low. She finished with seven points and nine rebounds. The junior center is averaging 8.5 points and 8.4 rebounds on 50% shooting during district play.
NEXT UP:
The Friars travel to Plano to take on John Paul II tonight in their season finale. The district championship is on the line and tip-off is at 6:00 PM.
SUB-VARSITY:
The junior varsity won an exciting game 40-31 over Ursuline to close out their season. They finished with a 12-12 record, 6-1 in district play, and on a three-game winning streak.
The freshman team ended their season with a hard-fought loss to Ursuline. They finished the season going 10-11, 2-2.
