Box Score ROBINSON, TX -- The Bishop Lynch women's basketball season came to an end last Friday when they fell in the championship game 65-48 to top-ranked John Paul II. The ladies gave it their all the entire game, but the Cardinals were the best team on the court that day.
Bishop Lynch had made it to the championship because of their great game played the day before against Parish Episcopal. After a slow start, the Friars out-played the Panthers in the last three quarters to defeat them 67-44.
Natalie Cardenas, who played some of her best basketball in the playoffs, led the way for the Friars in the semi-final game with 25 points and four made three-pointers.
Ellery Sample had her eighth double-double by scoring 14 points and grabbing 10 rebounds, and
Maddie Heiss added 20 points and four assists.
In the championship game, the Friars were once again led by the two star-studded seniors of Heiss and Cardenas. Heiss led the way with 14 points and Cardenas added 12.
Cardenas, Heiss and Sample all made the All-Tournament team due to their great play in the playoffs.Â
The women's varsity basketball team ended their season with a record of 27-11. As a program, the three women's teams won a total of 50 games throughout the season. Congratulations to the entire women's basketball program on a fantastic 2022-2023 season.
