AUSTIN -- The Bishop Lynch baseball team had another great showing in the prestigious AISD tournament over the weekend. One of the many highlights was sophomore
Sam Elrich's no-hitter he threw in the Friars' 2-0 victory over Del Valle on Thursday.
The Friars went 3-1 with one canceled game over the weekend. Their wins came against Del Valle (2-0), Bowie (15-0) and Bolton (5-3). Their one loss came against 6A powerhouse Westlake 7-2.
Elrich's no-hitter was a thing of beauty. The sophomore pitched 7.0 innings on just 81 pitches with six strikeouts to get the win. He is now 4-0 on the season with an ERA of 0.239. He is proving to be a great duo with
Brandon Bertsch.
The Friar bats continued to show up throughout the tournament as well. In the four tournament games, 12 different Friars had an RBI. Leading the way was Sebastian Vasquez, who had three RBIs total.
Ben McLean had an on-base percentage of .700 as the junior catcher had four hits and two walks.
This was Bishop Lynch's last tournament of the regular season. In the four tournaments they participated in, the Friars had a record of 15-2.
