Bacsik’s Career Night Powers Friars Past Cardinals

DALLAS — The Bishop Lynch baseball team closed out its season series against John Paul II with a 6-0 victory Tuesday night at McIngvale Field. The win moves the Friars to 16-16-1 overall and 5-6 in district play, securing a 3-1 season series advantage over the Cardinals.

The victory was fueled by a dominant performance on the mound from Jake Bacsik. The junior right-hander tossed a two-hit complete game, striking out a career-high 12 while issuing just three walks. His 12 strikeouts are the second-most by a Friar pitcher this season.

At the plate, Bishop Lynch capitalized on limited opportunities, scoring six runs on six hits. Noah Herrmann and Elliot Brown each recorded doubles, with Herrmann delivering the decisive blow with a two-run double in the sixth inning.

After a scoreless start through three innings, the Friars broke through in the fourth with a four-run frame. Hayes Bonds was hit by a pitch to start the rally, and a Cardinal error put two runners on base. Brown opened the scoring with an RBI single, and following an intentional walk to Will McGuinness, Cash Sokolovic and Parks Belknap added back-to-back RBI singles to extend the lead. A balk later brought home McGuinness to make it 4-0.

Bishop Lynch added two more runs in the sixth when Herrmann drove in McGuinness and Bennett Schroeder with a double to center field, pushing the lead to 6-0.
